Also is there a wizard in Vista for setting up network sharing etc like XP pro has? I need help with enabling filesharing so I can connect to my Vista pc .... Meaning in the xbox media center there is an option called UPnP Media Servers (Auto Discover). That is the only way to connect to the media sharing on Vista.

I put a dvd in to play and media center says that I haven't loaded one. I have and I can feel it loading but it is not recognized as having been loaded. This started happening the day after my experience with Gateway. I couldn't help but feel like there was a connection to this error and Gateway.

I removed my “spare” hard drive before installing Vista…don’t ask me why…it made sense at the time. XP Media Center can do the same thing as Home Premium and Ultimate if thats what you mean... and wmp11 is crap anyway... gomplayer performes far better at playing movies. Andre's not "just" spouting the MS line... he's speaking from his own experience with Vista. Vista "works" for Andre. Works for me too.

don't want to reinstall my Vista Ultimate but am getting close to doing so. PLEASE HELP !!!! THANKs In the past, AMD CPUs required special drivers to solve some TV & other problems. It has been my experience with MCE 2005 that a CPU upgrade forced me to reactivate Windows in less then 30 days and repair DRM.

For my part it means I've just wasted £300 on a XBox that I bought specifially as a Media Center Extender to connect to my Vista machine. purchased an XBox 360 to use as a Media Center Extender and horrified to find that gaps are placed between tracks ruining the listening experience, even over a wired network.
